Cheryl Horton
Director of Marketing
Cheryl Horton brings 30 years experience in the retail/shopping center industry. Her background expertise is in a myriad of retail, shopping center and office environments in the marketing, leasing, and specialty leasing arenas.
She started her retail/marketing career with her own advertising/PR agency handling small shop owners and restaurants. Her corporate retail background has included various positions with Nordstrom, The Hahn Company, The Yarmouth Group and Urban Retail Properties. Some of the shopping centers she has worked on are Valley Fair, San Francisco Centre, Stonestown Galleria, Clackamas Town Center, Sherman Oaks Fashion Square, The Mall at Victor Valley, Eastridge Mall and more.
Cheryl has strong skills in strategic planning, identifying trends, budgeting, marketing, designing and executing leasing strategies, successful lease negotiations and effectively managing people. She has strong communication skills which has served her well with Property Ownership, Joint Venture Partners, Asset Managers, General Managers and Marketing Directors.
Her creativity and people skills have been a true asset to maximizing retailer productivity and creating scenarios that help drive retailer sales and retention. She understands that industry and fiscal responsibility to achieve ROI and occupancy is vital in the ever changing retail world.
Her diverse background also includes Director of The Carefree Institute, a small entrepreneurial company which features a comprehensive and proprietary tool used by professionals and businesses in the hiring process. Her role included managing client relations, procuring new clients and developing the marketing vision. In addition, she designed and created instructional seminars and implemented a new web site for the company.
In addition to her professional expertise, Cheryl has served as Co-Chair for two major fundraising events benefiting The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale. Her role was to create, plan and coordinate all aspects of the events (fashion show, entertainment, silent & live auction) as well as serve as hotel and media liaison. She serves as a counselor for women in transition and is a strong supporter of the American Cancer Society.
